5 Benefits of Overnight Care in Langley for Seniors Living at Home

Night-time is often when families worry most about a parent living at home. At United Respite Care, all our overnight shifts are awake shifts, meaning caregivers remain awake throughout the night to ensure the safety, comfort and well-being of our clients. Here are five benefits of awake overnight care for seniors in Langley and the families who care for them.

1. Awake Overnight Supervision and Fall-Risk Reduction

An awake caregiver is there to assist when seniors need to get out of bed, use the bathroom or move around during the night, so your loved one doesn’t have to do it alone.

2. Personal Hygiene and Comfort Throughout the Night

Our caregivers help with toileting, incontinence care, clothing changes and clean bed linens whenever necessary, so your loved one remains clean, dry, comfortable and well cared for throughout the night, with their dignity preserved.

3. Support for Seniors Living With Dementia, Parkinson’s or Mobility Challenges

Familiar routines, reassurance and attentive non-medical assistance help your loved one through the night. Medication reminders are part of our non-medical services (reminders only, not administering medication).

4. Peace of Mind and Uninterrupted Rest for Family Caregivers

Overnight care gives family caregivers, particularly spouses who are exhausted from providing care overnight, the chance to rest. Our goal is to provide peace of mind to families, knowing their loved ones are supported throughout the night.

5. A Comfortable Transition From Evening to Morning

Overnight care covers both ends of the night: bedtime preparation in the evening, then personal care, dressing, breakfast and light housekeeping in the morning.
